What if you had a safe space to ask any question about audio you want? The type of thing you can’t find the answer to via Google. This is an opportunity for us all to learn more about things that you might not learn in audio class, or on the internet, or are even basics that you should already know. We’ll find the answer for you and report it out online in this live event! Get your questions in so we can get them answered!
About the presenters
EVA REISTAD
Mix Engineer, Producer, Singer
Eva Reistad is an audiophile and sound scientist known for getting amazing guitar tones, wrangling in the largest of mixes and sessions, and being able to patch together most recording studios. While her diet consists of mostly pizza, this does not debilitate her from logging endless hours in recording studios recording and mixing all genres of music. Located in the entertainment hub of Los Angeles, she has spent a large portion of the last decade wiring together studios, soldering NS-10 speakers at 3 am, and learning to troubleshoot the ever-expanding digital world of audio mixing- all with a smile.
PIPER PAYNE
Mastering Engineer (LeAnn Rimes, Madame Gandhi, The Go-Go’s)
Piper Payne is a mastering engineer based out of Nashville, TN, where she works on albums for independent artists and major labels at Infrasonic Mastering.
Piper is a Trustee of the Recording Academy and she is Co-Chair of the P&E Wing Steering Committee. She is a former Governor of the Audio Engineering Society and she is the Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the AES’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee as well as an active member of Women's Audio Mission and she serves on the Board of SoundGirls.org.
In addition, Piper is a keeper of Vinyl Quality Control and a consultant for vinyl record pressing plants, and is opening her own vinyl manufacturing plant in Nashville in mid 2021.
Piper has a diverse background in musical styles. As a drummer, she knows that the best outcome of every project is that it has to feel good. As an engineer, Piper is focused on technical quality and correctness. But, at the end of the day, mastering is about format conversion and quality control so the project gets just what it needs.
Piper has mastered a wide variety of music including nationally renowned artists Third Eye Blind, LeAnn Rimes, The Go-Go’s, Madame Gandhi, Geographer, The Steven Universe Soundtrack’s composers Aivi and Steven, Basement, Hundredth, Elettrodomestico (Jane Wiedlin/The Go-Go’s), Blithe, ANIIML, Shamir, Betsy, Between You & Me, and Fritz Montana to name a few. DAN BACIGALUPI
Mastering Engineer (Gabby Barrett, Parmalee, Kane Brown)
Daniel Bacigalupi is a Minnesota native who has been mastering music in Nashville for over 10 years. Daniel began his career at Ithaca College in New York where he earned a B.M. in Sound Recording Technology under the direction of Alex Perialas. Upon graduation, he moved to Nashville and began a 6 year career at Georgetown Masters with renowned Mastering engineer Andrew Mendelson. Daniel opened dB Masters in Green Hills in 2014 before teaming up with Grammy Award-winning engineer Pete Lyman and Infrasonic Mastering. He now works out of Infrasonic Nashville and continues to work on projects across a variety of genres.
